Don’t count on offspring

I beget a child to bear my stamp,
To represent me after my exit,
And to inherit mine; it is my wish.
It is my heir and my nominee.
I can act only as its guardian.
It has more right on me than I on it.
I invest love without a guarantee,
And persevere in its wellbeing.
Old lions are dying being unattended.
One is lucky should one get the child’s care.
